The summer months can be a time for vacationing with family and friends, leisurely days and evenings of exploring new venues, and catching up on reading some great books. For the months of July and most of August, myself and the members of our book club, the veterans who reside at The Armed Forces Retirement Home, have been on a "summer pause." And while we all were having our very own summer fun, we were all enjoying our " tote bag of books" that we had organized for our very own summer reading.
Our Blog is a collection of thoughts, memories and stories that continues to influence us with our work for Volunteering and Intergenerational Programs.

"A Home For My Books...." VFW National Home for Children, Eaton Rapids, Michigan
Recently, while signing and sharing my books at Joint Base
Andrews Air Force Base, Prince George's County, Maryland, I met a Colonel,
United States Army, from Eaton Rapids, Michigan. She introduced herself, and immediately began
to speak with me about a place that is very dear to her heart. A place where both she and her husband volunteer. This special place is "VFW National Home
For Children," Eaton Rapids, Michigan.
As our conversation continued to evolve, we spoke about The Children's
Home, and my books finding their way there.

The Murray Family
So very nice to meet Audrey and The Murray Family while book signing at Chicquapins Ice Cream and Gift Shop. The "Annual Festival On The Square, Hayesville, North Carolina," has always been a favorite time of mine. Meeting the longtime families who have resided in Clay for generations, the curiously happy visitors, and the many seasonal residents that enjoy the beauty and friendliness of "The Mountains" is a joy!
