A very special tribute to our veterans who reside at The
Armed Forces Retirement Home (AFRH), Washington Campus, Washington, D.C. was
held on Thursday, December 5, 2019 in the Community Center, on the lower level
of the Scott Building. History came
alive at this heartfelt evening event, as we introduced our new book,
"Remembering With The Heart, Stories by America's Finest."
Writing "Remembering With The Heart, Stories by
America's Finest," became one history lesson after the other for the past
four years, and for that I am grateful.
For many years, during my career as a public school teacher and as the
Founder and Director of Kind Kids Inc. a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that
instills volunteerism in community activities and promotes reading across the
generations, it has been both an honor and a privilege to listen and to learn
from the veterans. The main characters
present in "Remembering With The Heart, Stories by America's Finest, are the
veterans that reside at AFRH, Washington Campus. Their years of service to our country has
played an integral part of both their personal and professional lives. The prolific storytelling in their book
exemplifies the learning, the compassion, and the heartfelt experiences that we
all become a part of, as we journey through our very own lives.
In a
near future, signed copies of "Remembering With The Heart, Stories
by America's Finest" can be ordered directly from the web store at my
website www.thekindkids.org. We believe
that you will truly love our book!
Most grateful,
Glenna
C. Orr (Reading Specialist & Director of The Kind Kids Organization)
